A Quiet Evening 🤔
Did my researches and headed off for the fisherman’s quarter (Barrio Pesquero) for the seafood. Saturday night I realised so it might be a bit busy. Well. There was something going on. A funfair and huge numbers of people many with drums and trumpets. “The restaurant I’m heading for is in a quiet courtyard” I…

Coincidence
I met a fellow bike packer on the train. He was wearing gaudy African attire and had an ancient Decathlon bike with reversed brakes so I assumed he was not British! I smelt a rat when he leapt up and took a picture of the station name: Poo. It was Po on the timetable, not…

Rest day transfer
I’ve ridden for seven days on the bounce, eight if you include the 12km to the station today and whilst I’m physically fine, (actually better than fine, I feel great) and could ride the 130km required, I think I need a mental break so today I am taking the train to Santander. I’ll actually then…

Lagos de Covadonga
Whata great day. Some little beautiful climbs, then a long main road (they have great hard shoulders for bikes) then the climb. Chill
I’m feeling remarkably relaxed today. Getting in to the swing if things I guess. Given I’m planning to climb the #1 climb in Spain later today before watching the Tour and then England in the football in think I should be more stressed. Posted from Spain:

Off to Covadonga
Lagos de Covadonga is arguably the #1 climb in Spain. Today’s plan is to ride to the hotel, do bags and head up. I naturally watched today’s Pamplona bull run before heading off. It’s quite sultry today but a feel fine (apart from losing my 170 Wordle steak 😭). Posted from Spain:

Sorted 🤞
The brilliant guy at the bike shop agreed with me and greased the pedal cranks, hopefully it’s (an annoying click under stress) sorted. We had a fun time thanks to Google translate and he was very interested in the bike! My romantic notion of going to a barber and getting cut throat razor shaved hit…

Waiting in the rain
I’ve come to a bike shop to get my tyres pumped up and discuss (Google translate to death) a small niggle with the bike. Kudos because the guys I saw on the Angliru are here and recognised me. I await service… Posted from Spain:

Angliru!!
Another one ticked off the bucket list 🤩 I thought the Galibier valley was special but this was next level. The climb was pretty straight forward until the famous bit which was too much for me. Maybe if I’d done it without having ridden for 5 days previous, I could have done it, but I…
