Heading North in to a Headwind
All good. Very quiet roads at the start but relatively consistent cars and lorries on the N-505, but all very well behaved and there are regular parallel roads for access to houses that I can trundle along. Moving average is about 19 kph in to the headwind but making no real effort. Found myself a…

Let the games really begin
it took about 90 minutes of steady careful work to make a bike. Onwards. We flew over my school. I didn’t feel guilty. Posted from Santiago de Compostela, Santiago de Compostela, Spain:

Let the games begin
I feel strongly like I felt when Tamsin and I walked in to a damp decaying house that we’d fought to get hold of. Very similar emotions: OMG What have I (we) done? I’m just so grateful to Tamsin for being so supportive of this craziness. Also squeaky bum time on the bike box. Maximum…

Extreme Weather Protocol
The weather was dire last night so I checked the forecast and it was predicting 4h of rain at the end of the ride to cousin #4. If touring I would cycle for half a day but that is not really an option so I bought a rail ticket… £10 more than crossing the Solent…

Day 2 – Isle of Wight Circumnavigation
I rode in normal shoes today. It was completely fine with my reversible (white) pedals so I changed to the bigger platform. It was good all day including some steep climbs. I left my bags at Bella’s. Tragically including my overshoes. Schoolboy.

To the Isle of Wight
I wanted to make the 1015 but got distracted packing and left 10 minutes late, getting to the terminal 10 minutes after check-in. But they were kind and off I sailed. I was expecting to be on the car ferry but followed Passenger signs which were not greatly in evidence which led me to the…
